Welcome to the UX Ranch
The Stovall UX Ranch offers you a ‘real
west’ experience. The tradition of 120 years of the ranching way of
life continues on the historic ‘Old Stenger’ ranch.

Ranch owners, John and Darlene Stovall
have been ranching here
for
50 years. They raised
registered Limousin cattle, quarter horses and six children.
They
continue to live at the ranch
headquarters. Currently, three of the children, Doug, Jinx and
Jonalyn,
are involved in the day-to-day ranch operations. The other 3 children,
Jon, Mark and Jennifer come home as
often as possible and for special
ranch projects including the annual Cattle Drive.
The UX Ranch is located on the eastern
edge of the Black Hills of South Dakota, just 5 miles east of
Hermosa. This is a central location and within
15 to 35 minutes of all the major Black Hills attractions, including
Sturgis. The ranch is surrounded by miles of pasture land, hay fields,
foothills and picturesque vistas with horses, cattle and all types of
native wildlife.
In addition to Mount Rushmore and Crazy
Horse monuments, the Black Hills
have hundreds of miles of trout streams, secluded hiking and biking
trails and wonderful mountain lakes. Custer State Park and the UX
Ranch forest service permit offers some of the best trail riding for
you and your horses. Have you always wanted to help move cattle? We
are able to offer you one day ‘mini’ Cattle Drives, but only if you
bring your own horse.
We are offering Horse Camping this year
for the first time. There is plenty of parking for your rig, stay in
our comfortable bunk houses or at the 4 RV stations. Your horses will
be near by in the barn stalls or in open corrals.
Our goal is to make your visit to
western South Dakota a terrific memory and give you a chance to
experience the ‘Ranch lifestyle’ we love and appreciate each day.
